Taiwan birth certificate translation for Australian applications
Our NAATI-certified translations are accepted by the Department of Home Affairs for citizenship by conferral applications. Home Affairs asks for a full birth certificate. Provide both the Chinese original and English translation. Home Affairs recommends NAATI-accredited translators in Australia. Follow your application checklist.
Applicants use birth certificates for PR, family visa and parent visa applications. The certificates provide identity and family relationship evidence. They show the date of birth and parent-child relationships. Universities, lawyers, courts, government bodies and skills assessors may also request birth evidence.
A university may request the certificate for admission or identity checks. A lawyer or court may need birth details for legal documents. A skills assessor may request a name or date of birth for a skills assessment. Each recipient sets its document and format requirements.
Document details and preparation
We translate names, birth date and place, parents’ names, issuing authority, issue date, page numbers, seals, signatures and notes. Send all pages, including any marked back. Check any differences against your passport or household registration transcript. The recipient may need an explanation or supporting documents.
Your hospital or registry may have issued an English version. You may also have a reference translation. Ask the recipient whether it accepts that version. Tell us who issued or prepared it. Tell us what the recipient requested. Contact us about how to provide it. We still need the Chinese source for this translation service.
Translation does not include notarisation or authentication.
Frequently asked questions
Will Republic of China (ROC) dates be converted to Gregorian dates?
Yes. We convert ROC dates and check them against the source document.
Can you translate a layout different from the sample?
Send a complete, clear copy for checking. The sample is a guide. A different layout does not prevent translation by itself. We translate your actual document.
What if a handwritten birth certificate is hard to read?
Send a clear scan or photo. Identify difficult fields. Provide your reading for the translator to check. Your reading does not replace the source.
Do I need a NAATI translation for an Australian visa?
A NAATI English translation supports Australian visa applications that request your Chinese birth certificate. Follow the document checklist and any further request. Provide the Chinese source and translation.
Can a Taiwan birth certificate support a child or partner visa?
Yes. A birth certificate can show birth date, parents’ details and a child or family relationship. Check the required evidence in your case.
Does the whole certificate need translation?
Yes. We translate the full certificate. This includes names, dates, birthplace, parents, issuing authority, issue date, seals, signatures and notes.
Can a birth certificate replace a household registration transcript?
Not always. A birth certificate shows birth and parents’ details. A household registration transcript can also show family, marriage, migration, name changes and notes. Follow the recipient’s document request.
Can I use the electronic NAATI translation?
Most online applications can accept the PDF. Upload the Chinese source too. Follow any specific request for a paper or certified copy.
Can the English name match my passport?
Yes. Type the exact passport spelling in the name field or order notes. Do not upload a passport image solely for name spelling.
