AO Translation provides NAATI certified translation services for Chinese documents used in Australia. Our translations are commonly used for visa applications, migration matters, citizenship, courts, universities, skills assessments and other official purposes.
We translate documents issued in Mainland China and arrange NAATI certified translators according to the document type, language direction and intended use. For a quote, first tell us the document type, language direction, purpose and page count; after we confirm the submission channel, provide clear photos, scans or PDF files for review.

Chinese-to-English Translation for a Subclass 600 Visitor Visa Application
AO Translation provides Chinese-to-English NAATI certified translations for documents you are submitting with a Subclass 600 Visitor visa application. If your checklist requires any of the four document types listed above, use the corresponding order link for the translation.
The documents you need depend on your application and circumstances; these four services are not a mandatory visa package. Follow your Home Affairs document checklist and provide the Chinese source documents with their English translations. See Home Affairs document attachment guidance.
Read our visa and citizenship translation guide, or request a written quote for other Chinese documents.
When Chinese Documents Need NAATI Translation

Case study: translating family and financial documents for an ATO submission
We translated contracts, bank statements, remittance records, evidence of relationships, a household register (Hukou), a bank deposit certificate and other documents for a client preparing materials for the ATO. The client already had a lawyer, who asked them to prepare a family tree and set out each family member’s relationship and financial dealings with the client.
The large set of documents took one week to translate. During that work, we discussed some of the content with the client several times. One version of the bank deposit certificate was unclear, so the client later obtained a newly issued copy from the bank.
The client was married, while the Hukou recorded their marital status as “unmarried”. The client therefore also supplied a marriage certificate.
What Is Included in a NAATI Certified Translation?
A NAATI certified translation includes the document translation and the translator’s certification details. Confirm any special format required by the receiving organisation before ordering.
- English translation of the Chinese document
- Translator’s name and NAATI certification details
- Certification statement
- Translator signature or official certification mark
- Clear layout corresponding to the source document
Clients may also check translator credentials through the official NAATI directory. If the receiving organisation has special requirements, please let us know before the translation begins.
Mainland China Document Translation
Mainland China documents may use different formats depending on the issuing province, city or government office. We regularly handle documents such as birth medical certificates, notarial certificates, household registration booklets, education certificates and police clearance certificates.
- After confirming the submission channel, provide complete, clear copies so names, ID numbers, dates, seals and attachments can be checked.
- If a name has an established English spelling, type that spelling; there is no need to upload a passport solely for a spelling check.
- If a document already has a complete English version, first check whether the receiving organisation accepts it. Additional translation is needed only for any required untranslated content or where the organisation specifically requests another certified translation.
Documents for Australian Visa and Migration Use
Chinese documents are frequently required for Australian visa and migration applications, including partner visas, parent visas, student visas, skilled migration and employer-sponsored visas.
For categories such as 189, 190, 482, Partner Visa and Student Visa, provide the checklist or request relevant to your application so the translation scope can be confirmed.
When Home Affairs requires police evidence from Mainland China, its China country instructions specify a Notary Certificate of No Criminal Convictions; that country entry excludes Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Translation does not obtain or replace the police record or notarial certificate. Other receiving organisations may have different requirements.
Online Chinese Document Translation
The whole process can be completed online. You do not need to visit an office in person. Clients can send documents from Australia, China or overseas, and receive completed translations by email.
- Choose the standard document’s order link, or request a quote with the document type, language direction, purpose, page count and deadline.
- For a quote, confirm the submission channel before providing complete photos, scans or PDF files; initial enquiries do not require the names or identification numbers shown in the document, or its complete contents.
- We check the document and confirm the translation scope, price and delivery arrangements.
- After confirmation, we arrange a suitable NAATI certified translator.
- The completed translation is delivered by email. Hard copies can be arranged if required.
Turnaround Time
- Standard Chinese ID card translation: delivered within 12 hours.
- Clear standard birth certificate, household register, marriage certificate, police certificate, graduation or degree certificate, bank statement and simple notarial certificate translations: usually about 12 hours, subject to the scope and conditions on the relevant order page.
- Mainland Chinese property certificate translation: usually about 12 hours after the document and payment are confirmed.
- 1-hour priority: each Product’s standard translation price × 1.6, using that Product’s own billing unit. Available 24/7, with the hour starting after payment and receipt of clear, complete materials; delivery is PDF by email. Check the full price and scope on the linked order page. Separate extras such as postage or affidavits are not included in this calculation; postal delivery time is separate.
- Work requiring a written quote: confirm the document scope, standard translation price and delivery arrangements before ordering.
If you have multiple documents or a deadline from an Australian authority, please mention it when requesting a quote.
Chinese to English and English to Chinese Translation
We provide Chinese to English translation for Australian official use, and may also arrange English to Chinese translation when documents need to be used in China or overseas.
If your document will be used outside Australia, we can explain the relevant document-preparation steps, with any DFAT authentication, apostille or other certification requirements confirmed against DFAT and the receiving authority’s instructions. Translation is separate from those procedures.
