Which document translation should I choose?
Choose the document for your task, then select the issuing jurisdiction. The examples below cover several uses for each document; they are not a list of documents everyone must submit. Follow the receiving organisation’s checklist and use the matching Chinese-to-English service link.
| Document and issuing jurisdiction | When you may need this translation | Matching service |
|---|---|---|
| birth certificate | Identity evidence for a Partner visa or citizenship application to Home Affairs; proof of birth for a notice of intended marriage in South Australia, where a passport is an alternative. | Chinese birth certificate translation |
| ID card | Identity evidence for a Partner visa application to Home Affairs; supporting photo ID for South Australian Working with Children, NDIS worker or aged-care screening applications made from overseas. Screening applicants also need the prescribed entry/work evidence and certified copies. | Chinese ID card translation |
| marriage certificate | Marriage evidence for a Partner visa application to Home Affairs; a marriage record for an Australian divorce application. Divorce filing also requires the translator’s affidavit—confirm those arrangements before ordering. | Chinese marriage certificate translation |
| police certificate | Character evidence for Australian visa or citizenship applications when Home Affairs requests an overseas police certificate. Check the required certificate type, including any notarial certificate, before ordering. | Chinese police certificate translation |
| driver licence | Driving in South Australia as a visitor with your current overseas licence; applying to Service SA to transfer that licence to a South Australian licence. Translation supports the documents—it does not remove eligibility or testing requirements. | Chinese driver licence translation |
| Taiwan birth certificate | Identity evidence for a Partner visa or citizenship application to Home Affairs; proof of birth for a notice of intended marriage in South Australia, where a passport is an alternative. | Taiwan birth certificate translation |
| Taiwan ID card | Identity evidence for a Partner visa application to Home Affairs; supporting photo ID for South Australian Working with Children, NDIS worker or aged-care screening applications made from overseas. Screening applicants also need the prescribed entry/work evidence and certified copies. | Taiwan ID card translation |

Do I need Chinese-to-English or English-to-Chinese translation?
Choose Chinese-to-English when the source document is in Chinese and the recipient needs English. For an English-language Australian document needed in Chinese, the listed options include Australian birth certificate translation and Australian death certificate translation; for other English documents, contact us for a written quote. Check which Chinese script and format the recipient requires before ordering.
Which education documents should I prepare for a South Australian overseas qualifications assessment?
For a South Australian Overseas Qualifications Recognition assessment, the South Australian Government asks for certified copies of the award certificate (degree or diploma) and academic transcripts or mark sheets for all years. Non-English documents need English translations; those completed in Australia must be by a NAATI translator. Certified copies are separate from translations. This assessment compares qualification level; it does not decide course admission, migration skills assessment or occupational registration. Contact us for a written quote for the education set.
Can I order a document translation from Adelaide without visiting an office?
Yes. You can choose a listed document service and order online from Adelaide without visiting an office. Follow the matching service page's file, payment and delivery instructions; if no service matches, contact us for a written quote so the scope can be confirmed first.
How much will my translation cost?
Prices start at A$25 for listed standard document translations. The price and billing unit depend on the document and selected options, so check the current price list and matching service page for inclusions before ordering. For an unlisted document or a set of different documents, contact us for a written quote for the total scope and price.
How long will it take, and how will I receive it?
Listed standard documents are generally delivered as a PDF within about 12 hours after the file and payment are confirmed. Check the matching service page for its specific turnaround and delivery options before ordering; for unlisted or multiple documents, give your required date when contacting us for a written quote so the expected timing and format can be confirmed before work begins.
Do I need a translation of my overseas driver licence in South Australia?
If you are visiting South Australia and your overseas licence is not in English, SA Government guidance says to carry an English translation or an International Driving Permit with the original licence. It accepts a translation signed and stamped by a NAATI translator or bearing a digital NAATI stamp with a QR code. Choose the Chinese driver licence or Taiwan driver licence service by issuing jurisdiction, and check the service's delivery format before ordering. Translation does not replace the original licence or decide your eligibility to drive or convert it.
Applying for an SA licence with a Chinese licence? See our Chinese driver licence translation and SA licence conversion guide for Adelaide for translation format, residency deadlines, tests and documents.
Will the organisation receiving my translation accept it?
The receiving organisation decides which original documents, translation credentials and delivery formats it accepts. Ask it about any specific requirement before ordering, and use the matching service details or contact page to describe that requirement; a translation does not itself replace a certified copy, witnessing, notarisation, Apostille or Authentication where one is required.
What if my document is not listed or I have several documents?
Use the contact page to request a written quote. In your first message, give the document type, page count, translation direction, intended use and required date; you can confirm the issuing jurisdiction and file-sharing method in the reply without sending sensitive documents in the first message. The quote can then confirm scope, total price and expected delivery. A listed standard document can still be ordered through its matching service page.
